Who Dares Wins tactical special operations modification
Who Dares Wins is a special operations total conversion mod of Valve Software's Source Engine. We are focused on post-Vietnam (post-1975) era special operations warfare.
Previous versions of Who Dares Wins were for Battlefield: 1942, but in 2005 we decided to switch to the Source engine. We believe Source will give us far more flexibility, as well as more powerful graphics to take Who Dares Wins to new heights.
Our first release is still taking shape, but we are likely to rebuild quite a few of our 17 original maps into Source. Multiplayer gameplay is our first priority, although we may add singleplayer maps or a campaign at a later date. True to our Battlefield roots, gameplay will be respawn based. We plan to implement a control point system similar to Red Orchestra, where you must hold specific strategic areas of a map instead of merely capturing a flagpole. We are looking to not only create a realistic style of gameplay, but an authentic "feel" to our mod, through realistic weapons and historically accurate maps, units and equipment. Weapons will have a load of fully functional accessories, including working ironsights, scopes, Laser Aiming Modules, bipods, fire selectors and flashlights. Maps will be as historically accurate as possible, utilizing maps, sattelite imagery and photographs of the area. We aim for not just realism, but immersion in the world of Special Operations forces.

Some new weapons models
We have some new renders of weapons we have been working on to show you guys today:
First we have the Glock 17 pistol, modelled by SiR R.i.P.P.E.R. It will be used by French commandos in the mod.
Then we have the Springfield M21 sniper rifle, modelled by Sarge. This will be used by US and Israeli special forces snipers.
And last of all there is the RPG-7, modelled and skinned by Megaraptor. The RPG is used by the armies of many countries, as well as many insurgent groups and terrorist organizations.
We are working on getting this stuff ingame, and on making some maps. But, we could really use some help, especially in the coding department. If you have any coding skills in Source, and would like to help the mod, please send us an email using the "Contact Us" function on the front page of our Website, or post a message on our Forums.

Who Dares Wins, a new mod for Source
Who Dares Wins is a new mod of the Source Engine that is based on real-life missions undertaken by real-life Special Operations forces from around the world. Our mod features many of the world's top Special Forces units, including the British Special Air Service, American Delta Force, Russian Alfa and French 1er Regiment Parachutiste d'Infanterie de Marine. Missions are all historically based and range from the siege of the Iranian Embassy in London in 1980, to the battle of Qala-I-Jangi Prison in Afghanistan in 2001.
As a mod team, we have been together since 2003 and have released several versions for Battlefield: 1942. Since then, with the decline of Bf1942 and the rise of Battlefield 2, we have decided to move to Source.
Maps will be as historically accurate as possible, utilizing maps, satellite imagery and photographs of the area. We aim for not just realism, but immersion in the world of Special Operations forces.
We also are currently in need of some help. We are especially looking for weapons and static modellers, skinners, coders and character modellers/animators. Prior experience with the Source engine is a plus but is not required. To apply please post a message with a sample of your work on our forums at http://www.wdwmod.com/
Below, you can see some of the models we have already made, such as the FAMAS G2 assault rifle (used by French commandos), our Uzi submachine gun (used by Israeli special forces in the 1970's and 80's), RPG-7 antitank rocket, LAV-150 armored personnel carrier (used by the Panamanian Defense Force for maps set in Panama in 1989), and our M60 machine guns (used by US Army Rangers in the 1980s and early 90's, as well as by the PDF).

Who Dares Wins announces departure from Battlefield 2
When Battlefield 2 was released, we were planning to make a new and better version of the Who Dares Wins mod. We quickly found out that the Battlefield 2 engine was harder to work with and more restrictive than the Refractor 2 engine that powered Battlefield: 1942. After several months of working with the engine, we decided it was not for us and started considering other engines.
We settled on the Source engine used in Half-Life 2, which gives us amazing graphics and physics systems to work with, as well as a great community and mod support from Valve that is second to none. The possibilities for the next version of WDW are huge, and we hope those of you who own Half-Life 2 will consider downloading WDW: Source.
